Spring Activities for Pre-schoolers

I'm certain that you're just as ready for this weather to warm up as I am!

Here's a list of activities to do with your toddler:

1) April showers bring May flowers, right? While we wait for this rain to clear take advantage of those puddles. Grab a pair of galoshes and go puddle-jumping! Better yet, join in on the fun! What better way to make memories with your kiddo than joining with them. If your little one needs a new pair of boots or a rain jacket, we've got them stocked in the shop this season!

2) Take a nature walk! There are so many pretty places right here in our backyard to explore. Grab a butterfly net, your camera, and go on a little hike.

3) Feed the ducks! My family loves to walk downtown towards the canal as the weather starts getting better. It's my favorite street in downtown as it's quiet and you can usually find a family of ducks. If we're lucky, we get to see some ducklings as well!

4) Search for rocks! Does your town have a 'Rock Club' or group? We have 1 (or probably a few where I live). Joining one of these groups is easy and several can be found on facebook. Hunting for these rocks gets your family out of the house, little legs get stretched, and mom and dad can help point out different hiding spots if you're doing the hiding! The rocks are generally painted and can be very simple or elaborate...the sky's limit on how they're decorated!
Here's one of the rocks we found on our window sill one evening. We had fun moving that to a new hiding spot in town!

What are some ways you get out and play? Our shop is filled with creative ideas for both indoor and outdoor adventure. Find us on FB or IG @sunnypatchboutique

Ok, so it's been quite a while since I've posted and things have been very busy around here but I just wanted to let all you mom's in on a little secret...I joined CashCrate a year ago and never did anything with it. But I logged in last month and decided to give it a go.

Today I received my first check for $38.83. I know that may not sound like a big deal to you but this company REALLY does pay out! And I've decided to let all of you know that this is a legit company. So many companies out there say they'll pay out but when you go to sign up, they redirect you to another company to sign up with and before you know it, you've been required to sign up with 5-10 different companies just to try and answer a few survey's (yes, unfortunately I learned the hard way several years ago...)

CashCrate is different! You sign up once and have access to free surveys, video's, samples, and more. Plus it's FREE! Never pay for a survey company. Been there, done that. And I can tell you it's not worth it. I did make my money back but it took a long time. I will tell you straight up that I have never done any of the free trial offers. A credit card is required and I didn't want to mess with all that. If that's something you want to do, my recommendation is to use a credit card dedicated to just these free trial offers. They do pay out quite well for the free trials, just make sure to cancel within the free trial window so you're not charged should you decide to not keep the free trial. Some trials require a month of service so please make sure you're reading the fine print before you sign up for any of these (this is why I didn't want to bother with them) but like I said, if you have a dedicated extra credit card lying around (please don't use your bank account, I wouldn't recommend that at all!) you could make some very decent money! I've seen several that are worth $10-$30 just for giving their service a try! That adds up quite fast!

Here are my steps to success with CashCrate:
1) Dedicate a separate email to this (in case you want to sign up with any trial offers, you won't have your regular email filled with random emails. I did this and it's been very helpful!)
2) Sign up for CashCrate....which by the way is FREE! And just for signing up you earn your first $1! Kinda cool on both accounts if you ask me!
3) Sign in early in the morning for the best video's and higher paid surveys. I discovered this one morning when I logged in and earned $15 in less than an hour. Later that day the payout on the survey's were very low and much longer. I tried my theory for a week and sure enough, this was true every morning!
4) When you get your first paycheck, share it with your friends! That's what I did, and while I was very hesitant because I felt it was kindy cheesy....and my husband didn't even know I had signed up, my friends were genuinely interested and wanted to sign up as well!

This is helping pay for my boys education this next year! One can never have too many forms of income, this is just one of them!

Have fun my friends and I'd love to hear your success with this!

DIY Mini Banner!

I made this super cute mini banner to put on our spring table down at the shop. I saw this cute idea on Pinterest (yes, I'm completely addicted to that site!) It's a great site for crafting, meal ideas, landscaping and soooo much more!!!

Here's what you'll need to make this simple, and inexpensive, mini banner:

3-5 rolls of washi tape (I chose 3 for this project)
1 roll of bakers twine (I chose a light green/white twine)
Scissors

Start by cutting about 3" of the tape and folding it over the bakers twine.

I found that if I laid it all out as shown here it laid flat and all in the same direction. With my first mini banner I cut, folded the tape over the bakers twine, and then cut the ends into corners and repeated the process. This made each piece of tape want to twist in a different direction. The second mini banner I made I cut, folded each piece over the bakers twine, and then repeated.

Once you've finished the banner, trim the ends into corners as shown in the right picture.

Voila! Isn't that about the cutest mini banner ever?! I have to say, every once in a while I surprise myself. Enjoy!

The best hospital slipper?!? SNOOZIES!!!

I spent 2 nights in the hospital a few weeks back and I sure wish I'd had someone grab my Snoozies Slippers for me!

What are Snoozies you may ask? They are a slipper...well not really...well sorta! They are meant to fit snug like a sock, have grippies on the bottom, and are completely washable. I love mine! In fact, my 2 boys ask for a new pair every Christmas.

Snoozies come in a range of sizes from baby (oh-so-cute!), toddler, girls, boys, women, and men.

I've had several people ask about the sizing of them. They are meant to correlate with ones shoe size. And there's an added bonus...if you can't find the exact size you want in the women's, take a look at the girls tween sizes. The tween sizes go up to size 8/9 (larger than what I wear) so you actually get a larger range of styles to choose from. This works the same for the tween boy sizes as well!

We sell these all year round and have shipped to states that I wouldn't even expect, such as Hawaii! Crazy right?!

Check them out and let us know which style is your favorite!

And I know it may be early but we have an entire case of the skinnies coming in the end of this month, just in time for Easter and Mother's Day!

Happy Shopping!

Amber Teething Necklaces

Got a cranky baby? As a new mom I'm sure you might be looking for the best and most natural solution to calm or soothe your little one. If your baby is between 3-6 months old she may just be starting to teethe. Of course, little ones have a mind of their own and could very well start teething much earlier than that!

SunnyPatch Boutique has a great selection of Amber Teething Necklaces!

Amber has been used for thousands of years to help ease pain associated with arthritis, migraines, pain, and inflammation among other issues. As the amber warms against the skin it releases the analgesic properties and helps calm and soothe pain associated with all the above mentioned, PLUS calm a teething baby!

Please always purchase from a reputable company that you trust. Unfortunately, there are a lot of plastic beads on the market so you're throwing money away and the necklace is nothing more than just a pretty accessory for your little one.

Wanna check to see if you've got the real deal or not? Warm a sewing needle and hold it against the amber bead. If it melts, you've got a phony-baloney plastic amber necklace. Real amber won't melt with a simple stick test!

Wanna see more? Follow us on facebook, give us a call at 541.928.2272, or check us out on our site. We'd love to help you, and your little one, get some relief from those early days of teething!
